The Bagpipes
Bagpipes are basically just a bag with 5 tubes sticking out of them.
One is for the piper to blow into. This fills the bag with air and that air can't escape back out thanks to a one-way valve. Instead the air is expelled through the three pipes called drones. The piper controls the air escape through the drones by pushing his arm down onto the bag to forcibly expel the air.
The drones consists of two tenors and one bass.
The fourth pipe is the chanter, which has holes that allow the piper to play the tune.
Bagpipes are loud and as such are designed to played outside in the open air. Perhaps in the dim and distant past bagpipes were used like mobile phones, to send messages to another clan in the next glen.
The English of old hated the highlander with his bagpipes, so much so that they banned the Scots from playing them. Fear can do strange things.
In the wrong hands, bagpipes wail, but in the hands of an expert piper, the bagpipes would bring tears to a glass eye, the sound is so beautiful.

Several years ago, I researched and found out my family, the Cooks, are a Sept of Clan Stewart, meaning we descend through the females of the clan. I took my oldest son to Edinburgh for Spring Break six years ago. We, of course, toured the castle and stood just outside St. Margaret's Chapel on Easter Sunday. This hub and its music brings back a lot of good memories.

Well I could be wrong, but I am pretty certain that last video with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards is taped at Edinburgh Castle (it looks like it anyway). Hope you listened :)
It is. It's the front gate of Edinburgh Castle. The statues on either side are Robert the Bruce and William Wallace (Brave Heart). Also, my favorite song is Amazing Grace on the bag pipes. Per my instructions, it'll be the only song played at my graveside service.
