South African Hoodia Gordonii Appetite Suppressant Diet Pills for Weight Loss

Updated on August 21, 2011

Everyone is talking about the South African plant Hoodia Gordonii, from which they have made appetite suppressant diet pills that really work for weight loss.

Growing wild in the Kalahari Desert, Hoodia Gordonii has been nourishing and sustaining the San Bushmen when on long hunting trips for thousands of years.

Hoodia Gordonii has been made in to diet pills, capsules, sprays, patches, extract and even tea.

The active substance within in, known invariably as H or E57, acts on the hypothalamus gland that is situated at the base of the brain.

It is the normal function of the hypothalamus to send signals to the brain to stop eating when it detects a rise in blood sugar.

Somehow or other, E57 sends the same message even when we haven't actually eaten. In this way it acts like a perfect appetite suppressant, and there are no known side effects.

People who have tried Hoodia Gordonii diet pills have reported rapid and sustained weight loss, especially when combined with a calorie-controlled diet and a regular exercise regime.

But for a little while, Hoodia Gordonii was simply not available for the manufacturers to turn into lotions, pills, teas etc.

So, some companies thought it a good idea to use other parts of the plants, the flowers, the roots, the seeds, instead of the body of the plant which contains the active ingredient.

Due to a world-wide shortages in supplies, they 'watered-down' what little supplies they had of Hoodia, so that each pill contained too little Hoodia to be effective.

This resulted in large-scale complaints about how the product did not work.

It does work, and works very well, if you have pure Hoodia Gordonii diet pills and not some watered down version.

So how can you be sure you are buying the proper stuff?

Only buy Hoodia Gordonii from companies which have a permit to import Hoodia from South Africa.

There only is a handful of these companies and all have been certificated by CITES, the Convention for International Trade in Endangered Species.

Hoodia Gordonii is an endangered plant species.

World-wide demand has by and large outstripped supply. Other countries have tried to grow it large-scale in special plant nurseries, but it is a slow-growing plant, taking up to 7 years to reach maturity.

In a few years time, no doubt prices will come down as breeders have successfully grown enough elsewhere to satisfy demand, but until then make sure you only buy South African Hoodia which has been tested and approved.

Any company which has a CITES certificate will display it on their website.

However, be aware that all a CITES certificate really says is that the company had pure Hoodia Gordonii plants exported from South Africa.

After exportation, the CITES certificate means nothing else - it does not mean that the manufacturer is putting 500mg of pure Hoodia in his supplement, or whatever it says on the packaging.

There are no regulations in place to force health supplement manufacturers to put the ingredients in the pills that they say is in it, unlike in the pharmaceutical industry which is heavily regulated.

The best way to buy pure Hoodia diet pills therefore is to buy from a reputable company. They will not want to obtain a bad reputation and so will make sure that their pills contain what they say they do.

If you come across a website or other advertisement offering cheap Hoodia, then the chances are you are not buying the genuine product.

Hoodia Gordonii is NOT a wonder pill!

You will not lose any weight if your food choices are bad, nor if you stuff your face even when you are not hungry.

Hoodia diet pills are appetite suppressants and nothing more.

They can help you to help yourself.

The best way to lose weight is to use Hoodia as instructed on the bottle, 3 times a day before meals, and then choose a healthy eating calorie controlled diet.

Appetite suppressants like Hoodia can help you achieve your desired weight loss easily but only if you treat Hoodia as a really useful aid and follow your diet plan carefully.

You must eat less calories every day than what your body uses. That way your body will use up body fat resulting in a slimmer, trimmer you.

Make it easier on yourself with pure Hoodia Gordonii appetite suppressant diet pills.
