81Everyone wants to know all about Kate Middleton, the commoner who will become queen one day, and this is her biography.
Born at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, Berkshire, England on the 9th of January, 1982, she was named Catherine Elizabeth Middleton by her doting parents, self-made millionaires Michael, b. 1949 and his beautiful wife, Carole, nee Goldsmith.
Her parents had met while they both working as air stewards for airline giant, British Airways, in the 1970s. They married in 1980, and by the time Kate, their first child was born, Michael Middleton was working in his promoted position as flight dispatcher working out of Heathrow Airport.
They lived in an idyllic location in a modest semi-detached house in Bradfield Southend, a village near Reading, in England.

You may well wonder why a biography of Kate Middleton should go on so much about her family, but it is to show that there is not a drop of blue blood in sight! Unusually, the next queen has never been a Lady, not is she the daughter of the titled upper classes of England. Instead Kate Middleton is an ordinary girl-next-door type, expect of course for her parents being super rich, but I'm coming to that.
Kate Middleton's paternal grandfather was an airline pilot, while her maternal grandfather was a builder. Just ordinary everyday people from a middle-class and hard-working background.
Kate's parents also had the drive to succeed. When she was 5 years old, they started their Party Pieces children's partyware business and this was so successful, that by 1995 the couple and their growing family were able to move to a 5 bedroomed detached house in nearby Bucklebury.
They were also later able to send all three of their children to exclusive Marlborough College in Wiltshire to complete their elementary education.

Kate Middleton attended St Andrew's Prep School, Pangbourne, until 1995 when she was 13 years old. Then she was sent to private Marlborough College which, incidentally, is also the same school Princess Eugenie of York attends. Princess Eugenie is the daughter of Prince Andrew and his estranged wife, the Duchess of York.
Kate worked hard at school and attained 11 GCSEs and 3 A levels.
This was enough to qualify her for a place at St Andrews university in Fife, Scotland where she graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 (Upper Second-Class) MA (Hons) degree in History of Art.
In 2001, while a second year student at St. Andrew's, she met William, prince of Wales who had just started the same degree course at the same university.
The two at first lived just a few doors apart on the campus's St Salvator's Hall of Residence where they became friendly, socialising and playing tennis together.
A year later they shared a 4 bedroom Edwardian townhouse with 2 other friends. There was no romance between them at this point. In fact, Kate was seeing another chap called Rupert Finch.
The following year, all 4 moved to a secluded cottage in the countryside. It is widely believed Prince William and Kate Middleton became an item in the Christmas of that year, 2003.
William graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 degree in geography, after switching courses.
History is repeating itself. The Press have hounded Kate Middleton in much the same way they hounded Lady Diana, Prince William's mother.
By October 2005, Kate Middleton had to complain through her lawyer about Press harassment, and in 2006 she was offered and awarded her own security detail supplied by the Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department.
She can't go anywhere without being photographed, and it's a wonder that the poor girl can keep smiling, as she does in many photos.
In October 2010, William proposed to Kate while the couple were on holiday in Kenya, and offered his late mother's engagement ring to seal the pledge.
The pair will marry on April 29th, 2011.

Arthur Middleton died in 1787 aged 43. Now supposing the same year he had a baby, but that baby (son, obviously) was 60 before he had a baby, that takes us up to 1847. Then if that son waited until he was 60 too, he would have had a great grandchild to Arthur Middleton in 1907. Kate Middleton's father was born in the 1950s. If there is a relationship there, it is really distant.
surly now there may be distant, but is not the point. My ancestor's were on his plantation. I will never denie that my ancestor's were slave's. Then again neither has this world. Why should she be treated any different.
I am sorry to hear that Rose. I, too, think it disgraceful that people were forced into slavery, but it had nothing to do with young Kate Middleton, even if she is is distantly related to this man. It was a terrible time in history, a disgraceful time, and all we can do is ensure it never happens again.
I have forgiven and move on. In recents years I have took that trip back to the plantation in South Carolina and we have sat down and had dinner together as descendant slaves and slave owners. There is another Middleton Place reunion set for Nov/2011. I am also invited to that.
The truth is no one, get to pick their ancestor's :(

Thanks for this, but I'm not sure Kate Middleton was ever a 'commoner'. She's lived an over-privileged lifestyle her entire life, as you said in an 'idyllic location' and in a family of millionaires. Most people in Britain can only dream about the privileges that she has had over the rest of the population.
I meant 'commoner' in the sense that she wasn't titled, not born into the aristocracy, but yes she lived a very nice lifestyle. Wonder if she knows she is giving everything up? She'll be constantly in the public eye just like Diana.

Yeah well the wedding is close so I suppose folks want to know a bit about her. Kinda mundane really, isn't it? It's not as if she was a trapeze artist or something when they met.
Izzy: I do believe that on the history channel the day before the wedding was announced or rather engagement, something was mentioned about Kate's Grandmother. Nothing bad but just a woman from a humble start in life.

Fingers crossed that it all works out for them. You are right, the marriage of Charles and Diana had always seemed like a match made from necessity, not love - he was so much older than her. This pair are much the same age and almost grew up together.

You left out the part about great great grandfather was no commoner he was Arthur Middleton, One of the Signer of the Declaration of Independence. The Middletons ancestory created most of their wealth through slavery.
